Philanthropy and the Lives You Touch
I know a successful, intellectually gifted person with a gracious heart. Her success has prompted her to render to others her assistance. Though she has been successful in business, she wants to change the lives of the people she touches to help them accomplish what they want in life. Her compassionate heart has compelled her to become the parent of two orphaned African girls. Her core value with every endeavor she takes on is the aspiration to assist people to succeed in life.
Among the philanthropic efforts she has set up is the entrepreneur school that has been set up in Uganda. This is to encourage people to secure for themselves a livelihood that will give them provision for daily needs. When you teach a person to fish, they are able to support themselves even after the teacher has gone. In this way they will not rely on supplies that may even be limited to some extent due to many people depending on it, as well.
Basic assistance of food, medicine, clothing, etc is provided to people as temporary solution to alleviate poverty. However when the needs have been attended then the next step is moving toward sustainability. That is where the entrepreneur school comes in. The residents of the communities where she ministers are taught business principles so that they can provide for their own basic needs instead of permanently relying on supplies from outside donors. This empowers them to make a difference in their own lives by giving them control over their situation.
However for the waifs who could not provide for themselves, African orphanages abound in the region to give children with basic needs and support for a semblance to a normal life. At the orphanage the children will receive care and psychological encouragement to build up a fit communal relationship. Children learn from the volunteers as the volunteers learn from the kids, as well, as they interact on a daily basis.
The conscious effort of this business woman and her team, along with the assistance provided by numerous donors help make a big difference in the lives of African people. In a land where luxuries are not common, all assistance is appreciated with a hundred fold return of a rewarding feeling that you’ve helped one way or another.
